Historical Views of Central Michigan University (nee Central Michigan Normal School)

   The Main Building, 1895
This building was built by the village of Mt. Pleasant in the hope that it, along with 10 acres of land for a total of $1, would entice the State of Michigan formally to authorize a public normal school in Mt. Pleasant.  The building was opened in 1893; Central officially became a state insitution in 1895.

   The Main Building, 1902
An East and West Wing were added early on to the original structure.
