Paul Carey sends these images. He believes they are either
of this sixth grade College El class (1940), or seventh grade
Junion High class (1941). He was in kindergarten when the
College El burned (1933). Classes continued in temporary
housing in the mall. For first grade, he then continued on
in the new College Elementary building, which is the one that
still stands. He recalls that Junior High was in Warriner
Hall, at the west end on the second floor. On the south side
was a room for the seventh grade, on the north side one for the
eighth grade. Physical education was in Central Hall.
Although there were no organized team sports, there was some
informal competition with 7-8th grade teams from other local
schools. Unlike in the 50's, there was no hall sing, and
there was no swimming on Fridays (although there was a pool in the
basement of Central Hall).
