Mike in Korea, 1966

Mike's brother, Hal, supplies the following information:

Mike earned a B.S. in Forestry at the University of California, Berkeley and planned to work for the U.S. Park Service, before electing to go to Vietnam as a First Lieutenant.  He had already served as a park ranger at Muir Woods [in Marin County, north of San Francisco] and the Grand Canyon.  He was killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.  Mike was awarded posthumously the Bronze Star Medal, with "V" device for heroism by the U.S. Army (May 7, 1967) and the National Order Medal, Fifth Class and the Gallantry Cross with Palm and Decree by the Republic of Vietnam (August 3, 1967).
